Job Description

My client is a leading provider of Clearing and Forwarding Services, Transport/Logistics, Lifting Services, Construction, and Professional Advisory Services throughout the East and Central Africa region.

We are looking for a Commercial Manager to represent the company’s brand and drive strategies to increase product awareness by observing the market, competitors, and industry trends. He will directly report to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mastermind business growth strategies to help meet organisational goals and objectives
  • Promote the company’s existing brands and introduce new products to the market.
  • Analyze budgets, prepare annual budget plans, schedule expenditures, and ensure that the sales team meets their quotas and goals.
  • Research and develop marketing opportunities and plans, understand consumer requirements, identify market trends, and suggest system improvements to inform strategic business decisions
  • Gather, investigate, and summarise market data and trends to draft reports that are tabled in management meetings for action
  • Implement the new sales plans and advertising.
  • Train, coach, and manage the marketing and sales team to meet sales targets and possess a collaborative mindset and work well as part of the team
  • Maintain relationships with important clients by making regular visits, understanding their needs, and anticipating new marketing opportunities.
  • Staying current in the industry by attending educational opportunities, conferences, and workshops, reading publications and maintaining personal and professional networks.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years prior experience in business development or marketing fields (preferred for a transport & logistics clearing & forwarding firm)
  • A Masters’s in Strategic Management or MBA (added advantage)
  • Bachelor’s degree in sales and marketing
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Full member of the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK)
